Cancelled - Sunset paddle with EOEPS
Following the success of their recent visit, East of England Paddlesports will be coming to join us again, this time for an evening/sunset paddle.
It would be great to see some of our own paddlers on the water to so why not join in.
This event is open to EOEPS members and WFYC full members only.
East of England Paddlesports (EOEPS) visit WFYC
Walton and Frinton Yacht Club extends a warm welcome to members from the East of England Paddlesports group to join us for a paddle from the club to Stone Point. With ideal weather, we can continue on into Hamford Water and may be lucky enough to spot a resident seal or two.
Anyone who fancies can enjoy a swim at Stone Point before we head back to the club for refreshments. The bar will be open and the BBQ will be hot, please choose the ticket option with a burger if you want one, so we have an idea of numbers.
We also have another possible plan to go across The Wade to Kirby Creek and see the seals, the decision will be made closer to the time based on weather conditions.
Approximate route GPX can be found below.
Tickets
£10 paddle only
£15 for Paddle and Burger Sold Out
The yacht club will have a BBQ afterwards offering burgers for £5 (including vegan/vegetarian/gluten free options). Please add these when ordering.
Itinerary
Join East of England Paddlesports and Walton and Frinton Yacht Club this summer as they open their doors to us!
This event includes a charge and will be £10 paddle only or £15 paddle + burger. This includes parking, launching, use of facilities and a safety boat or two. This location is also one that benefits from local knowledge and usually only accessible from private launch points so don’t miss out! We will hopefully also see some seals as the aim is to paddle where they normally reside on the backwaters!
We will launch at 9.30am after a short safety briefing and paddle to where the seals are on the backwaters and then paddle back to Stone Point where we will stop and have a snack and swim. We will then paddle back to the sailing club where we will have a spot of lunch and grab a drink together.
High tide is at 11.29am so ideally it would be good to start heading back to the sailing club before the tide turns to allow the tide to help us back. We will have to paddle against the tide on the way out. The paddle is 3 miles each way but if needed, you can stop on Stone Point on the way out as this is where we will all stop for a quick snack and swim on the way back.
Parking is at Walton and Frinton Yacht Club however if this parking is full please park in the public car park located at: Mill Lane Car Park, you pass it on your way into the club, which is 0.4 miles away. If needed, you can drop your stuff off at the sailing club then move your car to this location.
As with all of our Paddles, PFDs and leashes must be worn, all craft are welcome to this paddle.
