Haven Series 1 and EAORA Early Season Regatta
Yacht Racing has got off to what could possibly be called a shaky start this year with the EAORA Inshore Regatta held on the bank holiday. Starting off with a Race from Harwich to the Medway on the Saturday, Medway to Burnham on the Sunday, and Burnham to Mersea on Monday, the weekend was characterised by light winds and foul tides with kedging while waiting for the wind to fill in becoming quite practiced along with dodging shipping and noting who were not monitoring the VTS channels! Congratulations go to Hullabaloo XV skippered by David Evans for their win on the second leg securing the Ralph Herring Trophy. The following weekend saw the first of the Haven Combined Clubs inshore series with Crikey, Rainbow and Zero Gravitas representing WFYC. The race around Dovercourt Bay in a stiff wind was a pleasant introduction to the season for a lot of boats and crews with the sun occasionally breaking through to lighten the day up. The crew of Zero Gravitas were joined by two of our Cadets, Arlo Atkins and Poppy Usher, who apparently enjoyed themselves despite the best efforts of the helm! If anyone of any age would like to come along and try out yacht racing please contact Tim Brooke or Tom Blake. Full Results https://www.havenseries.co.uk/copy-of-2025-points-experienced-1
